TSG: ISO-9001:2000 statement
QS 9001 is structured
according to ISO 9001:2000 and includes
all of its requirements, plus special requirements
designed for organizations supplying automotive
manufacturers. Included in the automotive
supplier’s Quality Management System
(QMS) are enhanced sections on Quality Planning
and Process Control and five additional
manuals, referred to as "core tools."
These core tools include Advanced Product
Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process
Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis
(FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
and the Production Part Approval Process
(PPAP).
The Chrysler/Ford/General
Motors Supplier Quality Requirements Task
Force is responsible for overseeing ISO 9001:2000.
It is made up of representatives from each
of the Big Three companies, along with several
members who are liaisons to relevant organizations.
Because ISO 9001:2000 was a new approach to the
application the ISO 9001 Standard, the Big
Three, together with several accreditation
bodies and registrars, initiated the International
Automotive Sector Group (IASG) early in
1995. This group issues official interpretation
of the process connected with third-party
registration to ISO 9001:2000, and makes revisions,
clarifications and expansions to ISO 9001:2000.
For suppliers to Ford,
compliance is demonstrated by internal audits,
customer (or second-party) audits and third-party
audits by qualified ISO 9001:2000 registrars.
For suppliers to Chrysler and General Motors,
compliance must be demonstrated through
third-party audits by qualified ISO 9001:2000
registrars.
